Find out how Traineeships can help you on your road
to an Apprenticeship or work.
What is a Traineeship?
If you’re eager to find a job, but lack some of the qualifications and experience, then a Traineeship could be perfect for you. A Traineeship is an education and training programme for young people aged 16 to 24 who are qualified below level 3. It includes high quality work experience, work preparation training and English and maths support if it’s needed. To apply you must be unemployed or work no more than 16 hours per week. This combination of time in the classroom and time in the real workplace will give you that ‘work ready’ confidence, skills and experience that employers are looking for. Successfully completing a Traineeship typically results in either an apprenticeship or other sustainable employment.
What are the Benefits of a Traineeship?
If you’re missing some qualifications or want to gain some employability skills and connections, Traineeships provide a fantastic stepping stone so you can get started in the workplace.
- All our training is free training and is covered by government funding.
- Our Employment Coaches work with you from day 1 so you can find the apprenticeship or job that’s right for you.
- Through our work placements, you can try out a job first to see if it’s the right fit for you.
- You’ll get to know great employers and make long lasting connections with fantastic businesses.
How much does it cost? Do I get paid?
The big questions! Traineeships are fully funded by the government meaning there is no cost to you and no direct cost to employers. Taking part in a Traineeship also doesn’t affect your benefits’ eligibility.
Because they’re government funded the employer isn’t required to pay you during your time with them. However, depending on your individual circumstance, you may be entitled to a £40 per week bursary, and some employers may support you with expenses, such as transport and meals.
